Here’s What to Do

  1. Collect recycled cardboard 
  2. Flatten the cardboard and tape a few pieces side-by-side to construct a long surface
  3. Give your child paint to create a city on the cardboard

  • Search for and flatten the cardboard together with your child for this activity

ENGAGE

  • Ask your child, “what places can you paint for your city”?
  • Ask your child, “can you paint a special place for me in your city”?

ENCOURAGE

  • Ask your child to give names to the places in their city
  • Compliment and praise your child’s use of color, line, and shape 

REFLECT

  • Ask your child to explain who or what would like to live in their city
