Art can be made with natural materials

Here’s What to Do

  1. Go on an outdoor walk and ask your child to collect natural materials, like leaves, grass, twigs, pebbles, flowers, weeds, acorns, pine needles, and etc.
  2. Give your child paper and glue to create a picture with the natural materials

PAUSE

  • Ask your child if they are ready to go for a fun walk together

ENGAGE

  • Ask your child to describe the textures of the materials
  • Ask your child, “what picture can you make with these materials”?

ENCOURAGE

  • Remind your child to use adequate amounts of glue so the materials stick to the paper
  • Compliment and praise your child’s artistic choices

REFLECT

  • Ask your child to explain the details of the final artwork
