Your Child Will Learn
They can do important things with different parts of their body
Here’s What to Do
- Trace an outline of your child’s body on large poster paper with a pencil or maker
- Ask your child, “what are some things you can do”?
- Work together to draw pictures of your child’s “can-dos” on the body part that performs it
- For Example: draw a book on the head if your child is learning to read, draw a soccer ball on the foot if your child plays this sport, or draw a paintbrush on the hand if your child likes to paint
Put PEER Into Action
PAUSE
- Smile at your child and say, “you are special because you can do many things”
ENGAGE
- Explain that we use different parts of our bodies to do different things and give examples
- Give your child different drawing and coloring materials to make the outline colorful and detailed
ENCOURAGE
- Compliment and praise your child about the can-dos they share for this activity
- Share your special can-dos with your child and explain how you learned to do them
REFLECT
- Ask your child, “what are some things you want to learn how to do in the future”?
