All My Can-Dos

, , , , , ,

Your Child Will Learn

They can do important things with different parts of their body

Here’s What to Do

  1. Trace an outline of your child’s body on large poster paper with a pencil or maker
  2. Ask your child, “what are some things you can do”?
  3. Work together to draw pictures of your child’s “can-dos” on the body part that performs it
  4. For Example: draw a book on the head if your child is learning to read, draw a soccer ball on the foot if your child plays this sport, or draw a paintbrush on the hand if your child likes to paint

Put PEER Into Action

PAUSE

  • Smile at your child and say, “you are special because you can do many things”

ENGAGE

  • Explain that we use different parts of our bodies to do different things and give examples
  • Give your child different drawing and coloring materials to make the outline colorful and detailed

ENCOURAGE

  • Compliment and praise your child about the can-dos they share for this activity
  • Share your special can-dos with your child and explain how you learned to do them

REFLECT

  • Ask your child, “what are some things you want to learn how to do in the future”?
