Here’s What to Do
- Gather some colorful ribbons that are 5-7 inches in length
- Loosely tie 2-3 ribbons to the tips of your fingers
- Sit your baby in your lap or lay them on their back
- Dangle the ribbons in front of your baby to see, grasp, and pull
Put PEER Into Action
PAUSE
- Smile and hug your baby before you begin this activity
ENGAGE
- Say the colors of the ribbons
- Move your hands up and down, side to side
ENCOURAGE
- When your baby grasps a ribbon, stop moving your hands so they can pull the ribbon off
- Monitor your baby closely and if they put the ribbon in their mouth, gently pull it out
REFLECT
- Was your baby able to interact and respond during this activity?
