I know how to do tasks in a specific order and I can teach this to others
Here’s What to Do
- Ask your child to think of a daily task they know how to do well, like washing their hands or preparing their favorite snack
- Ask your your child to explain how they perform this task in 3-4 steps
- Film videoclips of your child performing each step
- Play the clips in order
Put PEER Into Action
PAUSE
- Smile and say “let’s use your knowledge to make a how-to video”
ENGAGE
- Ask your child, what is the first step? What comes next? Then what? What is the final step?
- Compliment your child by saying “you look great on camera”
ENCOURAGE
- Your child may need to film several video clips of the steps
- Play the videos for your child and ask if they want to reshoot any steps
REFLECT
- Send the video to people who know your child and share their feedback
