Here’s What to Do
- Select a family heirloom or special object that was passed down to you from an older family member. Show it to your children
- Demonstrate safe and soft touch so your children handle the object with care
- Ask your children to describe what they see, discuss its purpose, and then explain the memory and history of the object
- Photograph your children with the heirloom or object and send it to other family members

- Get on eye-level and sit close to your children during this activity

- Describe and reflect on the moment you received the family heirloom or object

- Have your children ask additional questions to the family member who passed down the heirloom or special object to you
- Describe and reflect on the family member who passed down the heirloom or special object to you if they are no longer alive
REFLECT
- Ask your children, “what things would you like to save and share with younger family members when you get older”?
